Hazardous Waste Operations Refresher Course ($250): 8-hour course designed for those who work on hazardous waste sites and must comply with 29 CFR 1910.120. Topics include: Applicable OSHA and EPA Regulations, Advanced Site Safety Planning, Hazardous Materials Recognition & Properties, Instrumentation, Safe Work Practices, PPE, and Site Control.  It is required annually.

Upcoming Dates:  December 6, 2011; March 7, 2011

Course hours:  8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Location:  The Kennebunk Inn, Kennebunk, Maine

Classes are only on a quarterly basis now.

DOT/RCRA Training ($200):  0This 2-hour course combines the requirements of the DOT Hazardous Materials regulations for shippers and those who sign manifests with the requirements under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This course is for persons responsible for shipping hazardous materials via road, rail, air, or waterways and for those that ship and/or receive hazardous materials, as well as signing the Uniform Hazardous Waste manifest and for persons responsible for managing hazardous waste, inspecting 90 or 180 day storage areas or satellite accumulation areas, and performing daily/weekly inspections.

Hazardous Waste Operations for Supervisors Course ($250): 8-hour course for those who supervise work on hazardous waste sites including drillers, equipment operators, technicians, geologists, engineers, environmental managers, safety and health professionals, and regulatory personnel. At the completion of the course, participants will be able to minimize the risk of work-site hazards of employees and subcontractors by understanding the proper use of site safety plans, material safety data sheets, instrumentation, personal protective equipment, and site equipment.

OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations Training ($1,000): This certificate course meets and exceeds OSHA requirements 29 CFR 1910.120 requirements for 40-hour site workers and emergency responders.  This course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. Students gain practical, hands-on experience through participating in realistic drills, which include metering, monitors, decontamination, and role-playing in the Incident Command System. Successful completion requires both classroom and practical participation.
